On Saturday 3 December, an IED/mine exploded against a cart with civilians on board in the area of Kolongo (Niono, Segou). It killed eight people of whom seven were women. Recently in the same area radical armed groups have burned rice fields, and imposed the closure of schools with threats.
Targeted or non targeted attacks against civilians further isolate communities, undermine confidence in the State and disrupt main supply routes. Among the forcibly displaced people, the most fragile social groups (women, children, elderly people) are exposed daily to additional severe violations of their most fundamental rights.
