The state of emergency in Mali has been extended, reflecting continued insecurity. Furthermore, in several regions of the country a ban on motorbikes has been imposed to limit terrorist groups' ability to move. However, this also affects the population's ability to access basic services and livelihood opportunities. Due to this insecurity, humanitarian access is shrinking.
The humanitarian situation continues to be of concern. There is a persistent high level of food insecurity, under-nutrition and a sharp increase in the number of schools closing due to terrorist groups. In the North, government services to deliver basic services such as health have yet to be re-established, with the population hence still dependent on international assistance.
