VSAT: A f/u meeting with Mr M. Amir, Chief Executive - Telecommunications Authority of Maldives took place today. WR to inform ISM on the results of this meeting by telephone.

Environmental Health (access to safe water and hygiene, sanitation situation) and Food Safety:
- SEARO technical unit (PHE) submitted CV of potential candidate for the assignment on Health Care Waste Management (HCWM). This will be submitted to Government for their clearance.
- SEARO technical unit working in identifying supplier for the plastic drums to be used in the transportation of hazardous wastage. These drums need to be UN marked as it is specified for
hazardous wastes within the UN.
Other health issues:

3. Key actions by Government, UN agencies, NGOs, others over the past 24 hours
Meetings:
No coordination or health sectoral meetings took place as they have been re-scheduled for once a week from 6th February onwards.
Others:
- Official website of the government (http://www.tsunamimaldives.mv) has put a new updated power point Presentation: Recovery and Reconstruction -- very informative, worth to take a look.
- A UN System Sectoral Financial Update (attached) was developed at request of the government in order to keep track on the UN Agencies disbursements made on Tsunami related emergency relief activities and plans for the utilisation of balance funds under different pledges. A meeting to discuss on this will take place tomorrow 08 February 2005 at 1.30 PM in the UNDP Main Conference Hall.
- Final draft of the WB/ADB/UN Needs Assessment will be ready today. Final version will be sent as soon as we receive it. All UN agencies participated actively in the editing of the final draft.
