Further, the President assured the people of both Atolls that the National Disaster Management Centre and other concerned Government authorities were implementing the required actions and that the Government would extend all possible assistance at this time of need.

The President last night also called the Senior Island Chief of South Huvadhu Atoll Fares Maathodaa, Mr. Mohamed Latheef, to inquire about the wellbeing of the residents of the island, on hearing about the tidal waves that hit the island late last night.
