Heavy rainfall has been affecting several states of Peninsular Malaysia since 22 November, causing floods that have resulted in population evacuations and damage. The affected states are Kelantan, Perlis, Perak, Kedah, Penang, Terengganu and Selangor.
The IFRC reports, as of 27 November, a total of nearly 12,400 evacuated people across the affected states. In particular, the IFRC reports 8,259 evacuated people in 33 relief centres across the Kelantan state, 1,121 evacuated people in seven relief centres in the Perlis state, 1,087 evacuated people in 13 relief centres across the Perak state, 317 evacuated people in three relief centres across the Kedah state, 322 evacuated people in four relief centres in the Penang state, 285 evacuated people in one relief centre in the Terengganu state and 73 evacuated people in two relief centres across the Selangor state.
Over the next 96 hours, more heavy rainfall with locally very heavy rainfall is forecast over the whole of Peninsular Malaysia.
