A team from the UAE Red Crescent Society has ended a visit to Malawi after delivering 40 ton relief materials to the help people affected by the floods which hit the African country. The relief materials were sent following orders by Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the RCS.

In January, the RCS dispatched a 40-ton relief consignment to Malawi after devastating floods that hit a number of villages in Malawi. Severe damage to farmland from the latest flooding has sparked concerns that chronic food shortages may worsen the situation after many people were left homeless.

The team, led by Khamis Al Suweidi, evaluated the needs of the flood victims and met with the Malawian officials to arrange for aid distribution to the affected people. (Emirates News Agency, WAM)
