Over 500 people affected, five sustain minor injuries
Strong winds that blew over some parts of Chikwawa District in the early hours of Monday, November 19, 2018; have damaged 105 houses.
A preliminary report from the District Council indicates that the winds left five people with minor injuries and they have since been treated as outpatients at the district hospital.
The report further states that approximately 580 people from Traditional Authorities Kasisi and Katunga have been affected and that more assessments to establish the extent of damage were underway.
The Department of Disaster Management Affairs will provide relief assistance to the affected once the council furnishes it with an official report.
