1. Situation Update

  • On 2 April 2019, an inter-agency Flood Response Coordination Meeting was held at the WFP Blantyre suboffice. The meeting was convened by the Department of Disaster Management Affairs (DoDMA). Operations are reported to be predominantly focused across the following six districts: Chikwawa, Machinga, Malunje,
    Nsanje, Phalombe and Zomba.

  • At the meeting, it was noted that coordination and information management capacity are key gaps in the humanitarian response at the district level. Responding organisations are requested to liaise closely with DoDMA and district council officials to optimise operational efficiency and reduce duplication of effort.

  • The Logistics Sector has published a Concept of Operations, which outlines both its strategy and the services made available. Partners interested in utilising the storage and transport services facilitated by the Logistics Sector are requested to contact
