Malawi (71%), United Republic of Tanzania (29%) and Burundi (<1%) were the main countries of departure, while Malawi (67%) and United Republic of Tanzania (33%) were the main countries of intended destination of individuals passing through the different FMPs. Out of 1,294 individuals observed, 63 per cent were males and 37 per cent were females. There was a number of women who were visibly pregnant. Boys and girls (males and females below 18) made up 13 per cent of the individuals observed. Of the 168 children observed, 23 were children travelling without an adult (09 boys and 14 girls). However, this information is based on direct observation and self-reporting, and therefore is likely under-reported.
