The humanitarian impact continues to rise due to the heavy rain and consequent floods of mid-March across several councils of Malawi, most of them located in the southern areas.

According to national authorities, as of 24 March, 29 people have died, 142 have been injured, 39 000 households have been affected, and 1 164 households have been sheltered in 31 camps. The Department of Disaster Management Malawi (DoDMA) is conducting assessments and distributing relief items but continues to face a significant resource gap.

For the next three days, cloudy conditions with moderate to locally heavy rain are expected across most parts of the country.
