Highlights

  • The Head of the OCHA Regional Office for Southern Africa (ROSA), Mr. Ignacio Leon-Garcia, paid a brief visit to Malawi between 8 and 12 March.

  • As of 16 March, a total of 148 cases of cholera have been confirmed by the Ministry of Health, including two deaths.

  • The review of the 2015 Malawi Floods Response Plan is underway. Clusters are revising their sectorial plans, with focus on the most affected districts: Nsanje, Zomba, Phalombe, Chikwawa,
    Blantyre Rural and Mulanje.

  • The Rapid Food Security Assessment exercise was concluded during the week beginning 2 March.
    Preliminary results show that food security needs among both the food insecure populations under the concluded MVAC response will increase due to a delay by one month in the harvest time.
