Executive Summary
The main purpose of this study was to find out the Knowledge, Attitude, Practises and Behaviour of the rural communities of Nsanje district in relation to interventions that GOAL Malawi has been implementing. This survey focussed on the 4 key areas of HIV/AIDS, Nutrition, Water and Sanitation and also Livelihoods. The results of this survey will serve as a yard stick for the interventions that have already been carried out in the communities and also act as a benchmark for future interventions. Further to this, the information will be useful to all the district partners who would want to use this information in their programming strategies.
This survey was conducted in April 2009 and captured 360 respondents from Nsanje district. GOAL Malawi used the SMART1 methodology in determining the sample size and selection of clusters. A cluster sample of 12 households by 30 clusters was used in this survey.
