LILONGWE, 6th April, 2015 (WAM) -- The Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation has concluded its humanitarian assistance programme to those people affected by floods in Malawi.
An official source in the Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation said that the aid distribution came upon the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and the follow up of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.
The source explained that the Foundation implemented the aid programme for the people of Malawi for the second consecutive year and provided over two thousands tons of corn, in addition to a large amount of medical supplements and materials, pointing out that over 650,000 people had benefited from the initiative in different areas of Malawi.
Peter Mutharika, the Malawi President, while receiving the Khalifa Foundation team in Malawi's capital city, Lilongwe, praised the humanitarian assistance as well as the many important contributions provided by the UAE. The President also expressed his thanks to President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, expressing his appreciation of the leadership in UAE for the valuable initiative implemented in Malawi.
