HIGHLIGHTS

Exchanges with key administrations

Following the formation of a new government at the end of 2023 and the restructuration of ministerial competencies, UNHCR has, on the basis of the Memorandum issued in the context of the 2023 October elections, pursued its advocacy with the new General Department of Immigration and the national reception agency to inter alia maintain a protective and effective asylum system and ensure access to dignified reception conditions.

As a follow-up to its December 2023 report on the situation of UASC in Luxembourg—which reiterated the need to mainstream forcibly displaced children into national child protection schemes—UNHCR pursued its engagement on this topic focusing on effective access for UASC who have a family member in Luxembourg to family reunification with their parents.
