Overview
It is estimated that over 97,000 Sudanese refugees arrived in Libya since April 2023. This includes over 45,452refugees registered by UNHCR of which over 26,219 were registered post-conflict. Estimates provided by authorities are much higher, indicating that some 65,000 Sudanese have arrived to Alkufra alone, with 300-400 new arrivals per day. Due to the irregular nature of entry, and in the absence of data shared by the authorities, the vast remote land border with three countries (Chad, Egypt and Sudan), combined with movements towards the cities along the coast, it remains challenging to provide an accurate number of Sudanese refugees.
