US $165.6 million Humanitarian Funding Requirements
The ongoing conflict and political instability have affected the lives of 2.4 million people in Libya, including refugees, asylum seekers and migrants. Launched in December 2015, the Humanitarian Response Plan (HRP) for Libya requests US $165.6 million to address the needs of 1.3 million of the most vulnerable, focusing on saving lives, providing protection from violence and abuse, and developing the resilience of affected communities. To date, US $ 39.9 million or 24.1 percent of funding has been received. Included in this total is US $12 million from the Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF) underfunded window, allocated to replenish stocks of foods and essential medicines and ensure that critical needs are met over the coming months. Further assistance is urgently needed to support water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) programmes, education and early recovery priorities, and to top up stocks of essential medicines which will run out again by June without a new injection of funding.
