Heavy rainfall has been affecting south-western Libya (in particular the south-western Fezzan region, bordering Algeria) since 16 August, causing floods that have resulted in population displacements and damage.
IOM DTM reports, as of 18 August, more than 5,800 displaced people across Ghat, Albarkat, Tahala and Issein towns (Ghat district), where the Ghat town is the worst affected with 3,280 displaced people. In addition, IOM DTM reports that displaced people are sheltering in 14 temporary accommodation centres across Ghat and Tahala towns.
Over the next 72 hours, no more rainfall is forecast over the whole country.
