Key Observations:

General Updates

  • Most shifts in population can be attributed to uninhabitable areas post-flood and efforts related to relief and debris clearance.

Increases in Population Densities

  • Most regions of Bayda city show an increase in population density between 10% and 50%.
  • In and around the Al Abraq International Airport, there’s a significant rise in population density, seeing increases of 75% or more.
  • Darnah, housing the most affected city of Derna, has experienced population movement rates above 50% compared to the baseline, notably to districts like Benghazi, Al Marj, and Al Butnan.
  • Cities on the northern road in Al Butnan, extending from Derna to the Egyptian border, have observed population density increases ranging between 10% and 50%.

Decreases in Population Densities

  • Coastal regions from Derna to El Akhrab have seen a decrease in population densities compared to the baseline.
