Wave 105.2FM and international charity
Children's Aid Direct have teamed up to launch a regional appeal to help
the children of war get back to school for the Millennium. The Wave Care
at Christmas Appeal is asking the people of xxxxx to collect simple items,
such as pens and pencils, which will make up a School Gift Pack for children
who have been unable to return to school because of civil war and conflict
in places such as Kosovo, Liberia and Sierra Leone.
David Grubb, Executive Director of Children's
Aid Direct and ex-headmaster understands only too well how important education
is to children all over the world: "The support of Wave 105.2FM and
its listeners will really help to bring hope for the future of children
in Kosovo as they face another cruel and hard winter. The School Gift Packs
will bring classrooms to life as, village by village, schools re-open.
Children must be free to express themselves in writing and drawing and
will respond to the security that the schools and teachers offer. Everybody
can do something to help, no matter how small, and give a gift to a child
who until recently felt that their childhood was over, stolen by conflict."
How you can help get a child back to school:
The School Gift Packs are made up of simple, everyday items that most children in Britain would take to school and should be new. If you are out Christmas shopping please spend a few minutes picking up these extra bits and pieces:

- Colouring pencils
- Colouring books

These essential School Gift Packs will be sent initially to Kosovo, and will also be sent to Sierra Leone and Liberia.
Chrissie Gale, Country Representative for Kosovo has seen the benefits that these School Gift Packs can bring to the children. "The children's eyes light up when they receive their packs. It's truly wonderful to see. Something as simple as this can provide children with the basic tools to learn again and to express their hopes and dreams. It makes them all realise that people do care."
