Liberia: Save the Children opens new clinic in Bong

The British charity Save the Children has dedicated a newly constructed clinic in Zeansue Town, Yellequelleh District, Bong County.

The National Field Operation Manager of Save the Children said the construction was the organization's way of catering to the health needs of Liberians.

Mr. Sulaiman Sesay said the clinic will help reduce the high rate of maternal mortality among pregnant women and cut down early child death.

Mr. Sesay commended the people of Zeansue for providing the site on which the clinic was constructed..

He assured Save the children will continue to provide medicine and other equipment to ensure the smooth running of the clinic.

For his part, the head of the County Health Team who proxied for Dr. Garfee Williams described the construction of the clinic as a positive undertaking.

According to the Mr. Alphonso Korvah, the initiative is also a significant step in improving the health care delivery system in Bong County.

He called on the people of Zeansue and surrounding villages to utilize the facility by taking pregnant women and children to the clinic for treatment.

Mr. Korvah also warned midwives in the area to desist from catering to pregnant women at home.

The cost of the construction of the thirteen bed-room clinic is put at one hundred ten thousand US dollars.
