WFP Lebanon Emergency Response: External Situation Report 18 - 14 March 2025

Attachments

HIGHLIGHTS

• Between 1 and 14 March, WFP provided daily meals to 15,300 displaced people in shelters and distributed Ready-To-Eat (RTE) food parcels to 63,900 people in conflict-affected areas. Since the ceasefire in November 2024, WFP has provided vital emergency cash and in-kind food assistance to 600,000 conflict-affected people.

• Due to substantial funding shortfalls, WFP reduced the number of Syrian refugees receiving cash assistance by 40 percent in February, supporting only 500,000 refugees. Without additional funding, resources will run out by June 2025, forcing WFP and UNHCR to make further cuts in April 2024, reaching only 200,000 individuals, 34 percent of the most acute food-insecure Syrian refugees, leaving nearly one million Syrian refugees without assistance.

• With a severe funding gap of 83 percent for the next six months, WFP is struggling to maintain vital assistance for both refugees and Lebanese while facing additional challenges in supporting the needs of new refugee arrivals.
