Highlights

  • On average, more than three children have been killed daily in Lebanon since mid-September 2024. Over 230 children have been reportedly killed since the conflict began. The grave psychological impact and signs of emotional turmoil among children have become increasingly evident.
  • During the reporting period, UNICEF supported 695 collective shelters hosting 121,602 internally displaced persons (IDPs) with relief items and critical services, including 330 shelters with an integrated package of child-centred services, such as clean water, sanitation, education, healthcare, nutrition, psychosocial support, and youth engagement.
  • UNICEF interventions and advocacy have supported 210 out of 250 displaced families living on the streets of Beirut in moving out of the streets to shelters or alternative accommodation. Beirut is virtually the only city in Lebanon where displaced families live on the streets.
  • The new school year in public school shifts serving Lebanese children resumed on 4 November 2024, with more than 880 schools offering in-person, online, or blended learning. The registration for shifts serving non-Lebanese students has been postponed to 25 November 2024.
