INCIDENT OVERVIEW
On 22 May 2025, Israel conducted a wave of aerial strikes across Lebanon, with a confirmed tally of 22 incidents. These operations spanned the governorates of Nabatieh, South Lebanon, and the Bekaa, targeting both elevated terrain and semi-urban communities. While tactical in nature, the strikes coincided with critical political and diplomatic developments, strongly suggesting a broader strategic calculus.
The airstrikes impacted a wide geographic area, with varying levels of destruction and civilian disruption. In Nabatieh Governorate, the towns of Toul and Toulin were struck, each sustaining multiple hits and visible damage to residential infrastructure. In South Governorate, Israeli warplanes targeted a broad swath of terrain and localities, including Mahmoudiya, Al-Qulayleh, Shemaa, Barghouz, Jabal Safi, Jabal Rafi', Wadi al-Azziyeh, Wadi Zibqin, and the corridor between Mansouri and Haniya. Further strikes hit the outskirts of Sajd, Jibour, Aitaroun (hit twice), Deir Antar, and Gharb Jisrin, areas often associated with Hezbollah’s southern operational depth or logistical movement. In the Bekaa Governorate, three locations, Flaweh, Jard Boudai, and the Boudai Hills, were struck, marking focus of Israel’s air campaign into territory frequently linked to arms transit and storage infrastructure.
