This paper, produced by Action Against Hunger, examines the relevance of the Triple Nexus approach to the WASH sector in Lebanon, using the solarization of water pumping stations as a practical pathway for operationalizing the nexus. In Lebanon, the combined pressures of conflict, displacement, economic crisis, and climate change have made access to safe, reliable water a persistent challenge for many communities, underscoring the need to better integrate emergency response with sustainable service delivery and conflict-sensitive solutions. The paper draws on a 2025 project funded by the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID), through which solarization was implemented for two pumping stations in South Lebanon, generating tangible economic, governance, social and environmental benefits. Based on this experience, the paper proposes a set of criteria for designing nexus-aligned interventions and offers recommendations for humanitarian actors and donors to strengthen long-term sustainability and resilience in the water sector.’
