• A ceasefire deal to halt hostilities between Hizballah and the GoI, which had significantly escalated since September 23, went into effect on November 27. Continued insecurity and GoI movement warnings hindered aid workers from providing assistance and beginning recovery activities as of December, the UN reports.

• More than 860,000 IDPs had begun returning to their areas of origin as of January 8, though given the complexity and fluidity of population movements, these observed returns cannot be considered permanent, according to IOM.

• With support from USAID/BHA and other donors, WFP reached nearly 662,000 people with at least one round of assistance from January to mid-December, including 67,000 people since the ceasefire.
