Abstract/Summary

On September 23rd, 2024, the conflict between Lebanon and Israel reached a critical peak after having escalated throughout the month. A ceasefire was declared on November 27th which reduced but not eliminated violence, with Israeli forces still occupying five strategic hilltops and periodic airstrikes continuing. By February 2025, approximately 98,994 people remained displaced while 949,571 had returned to their communities. Humanitarian work continues to address the evolving urgent needs of affected populations, but major challenges remain. The Household-Level Rapid Vulnerability and Needs Assessment (RNA) was conducted to provide critical insights into the urgent needs of the population after the announcement of the end of hostilities as well as inform humanitarian interventions and resource allocation moving forward.

Methodology:

The assessment used a cross-sectional design to capture a snapshot of the current needs of the people in Lebanon at a single point in time. The total sample size consisted of 4,099 households which was determined to be representative with a 95% confidence level and a 5% margin of error. Data collection was conducted through household surveys, with trained volunteers using mobile data tools (Kobo Toolbox) for in-person interviews.
