Lebanon, Saida. Lebanon, Saida. “[This] help came at exactly the right time,” says Taline, a mother of twins.
At 35 weeks pregnant with twins, 41-year-old Taline faced a critical, high-risk complication: high blood pressure that threatened her life and the babies’ as well.
Living in a country gripped by economic crisis and in a conflict-affected area, Taline and her husband were unable to afford the urgent hospital care she needed. Her situation reflected a dire humanitarian context—where even basic maternal healthcare is out of reach for many women.
In response to this urgent humanitarian need, International Orthodox Christian Charities (IOCC), with the support of the Lebanon Humanitarian Fund (LHF), stepped in to help Taline’s hospitalization costs.
Although the babies were born prematurely and required immediate admission to the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) due to lung inflammation, they received the specialized care they needed.
After several days in the NICU, both were discharged in good health.
Beyond the delivery, IOCC continued to support Taline by providing essential education on Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF), equipping her with the knowledge and confidence to care for her newborns during the critical early stages.
“We didn’t know how we were going to manage. My husband’s financial situation is very difficult, but you gave us hope and were honest to us,” said Taline.
