UN Women has released its first Flash Update on the escalation of hostilities in Lebanon following the events of 2 March 2026. The update provides an overview of the rapidly evolving humanitarian situation and highlights the gender-specific risks faced by women and girls amid widespread displacement, overcrowded shelters, and strained public services. It outlines key protection concerns, including increased risks of gender-based violence, barriers to essential services, and rising unpaid care burdens. The report also presents UN Women’s priority response actions to support crisis-affected women and girls through protection services, cash assistance and livelihoods support, gender analysis to inform humanitarian decision-making, and strengthened engagement of women-led organizations in the response.
