On 29 November 2024, Minister of Foreign Affairs Dato’ Seri Utama Haji Mohamad bin Haji Hasan presented a cheque in the amount of RM1.5 million to the Ambassador of Lebanon to Malaysia George Bitar Ghanem during a ceremony at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Malaysia’s pledge to render humanitarian assistance to Lebanon was made during a meeting held between Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati at the sidelines of the Extraordinary Joint Arab-Islamic Summit in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on 11 November 2024.
The contribution symbolises Malaysia’s continued solidarity with the people of Lebanon. As winter is approaching, it is hoped that the assistance will support and expedite the recovery process, particularly in the areas affected by the Israeli attacks.
Malaysia remains committed to contributing to international humanitarian initiatives in supporting peace-building efforts in conflict zones.
