• Seven Provinces in Northern and Central Lao PDR remain flooded after heavy rains continue since June
• In Oudomxay Province, 17 people have been killed since 20 August
• The Government through the help of provincial and local authorities continues to lead the flood response and is assessing the impact and needs of the affected people
• The Government is requesting 223MT of rice from the ASEAN emergency rice reserve to cover the needs of 5,000 of the 50,000 people in need of food assistance for the next three months
• 44 schools in six provinces have been affected, with one school completely destroyed
• UNICEF has provided pre-positioned WASH stock in six of the affected provinces and plans more intervention
