The Asian Development Bank (ADB) would like to express its heartfelt sympathy and deepest condolences to the people of Lao PDR for the loss of life and property due to the flooding from heavy rains and the collapse of a saddle dam of the Xe Pian-Xe Namnoy hydropower project in Attapeu province.
ADB has been closely monitoring the situation along with the government and other development partners to assess the impact of the disaster and seek to contribute to the recovery process. In particular, ADB has two ongoing projects in the broader affected area and stands ready to help the affected communities restore their livelihoods and ensure the projects achieve their goals in the coming months.
