The analysis, commissioned by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lao PDR and prepared by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), delves into the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) within the country. It draws upon valuable insights and policy recommendations from both UN system agencies in Lao PDR and the UN Resident Coordinator's Office to provide a comprehensive view of the SDG landscape. The primary data source for the analysis is the official Global SDG database hosted by the United Nations. The analysis is organized into four main sections, with the second section specifically focusing on Goal 18 and offering a trend assessment of the SDGs' progress.

Additionally, Section 3 analyzes the state of affairs in six transition areas, accompanied by recommendations for expediting progress towards achieving the SDGs. Lastly, in Section 4, the analysis gives an overview of data availability, which is crucial for monitoring and evaluating the country's SDG-related endeavors. In essence, this analysis serves as a valuable resource for understanding the current status of SDG implementation in Lao PDR and provides guidance for advancing sustainable development efforts.
