On 04 October 2016, KOICA and WFP signed a threeyear funding agreement to improve food security, nutrition and resilience to climate-related and economic shocks for more than 80,000 vulnerable people.

On 31 October and 1 November 2016, parliamentarians and deputy ministers of education, finance and health visited pilot schools in Chui and Talas provinces to learn about the importance of the school meals programme.

On 10 October 2016, WFP and DFID launched online and mobile applications in the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) to support disaster preparedness and responses in a real time mode. This application will help MES collect critical information on disasters and emergencies from the field.

On 12-14 October 2016, the Swedish Ambassador and First Secretary of the Finnish Embassy visited WFP’s project activities on school meals, disaster risk reduction, vegetable production, carpet production and fishery. As part of their mission, the officials took part in the meeting of the National Steering Committee and Harvest Fair under the joint FAO/IFAD/WFP/UN Women project on economic empowerment of rural women.

On 18-19 October 2016, a coordination meeting of all UN agencies participating in the cross-border peacebuilding project was held in Khudjand, Tajikistan. The purpose of the meeting was to present the progress on achieving the programmatic objectives.
