Regional Cooperation Programme was ready for a disaster in Kyrgyzstan

Regional Cooperation Programme (RCP) is an humanitarian organisation which was established in 2006 by the partnership of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies of Azarbaijan, Georgian, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Northern Cyprus Turkish Republic, Turkey, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. RCP is working on disaster and tuberculosis areas, by developing new projects to reduce preparedness and awareness. Morever RCP is also running relief operations in member countries by the participation of all member national soceities with their staff, volunteers and funds.

RCP has located its stock of 168 tents, 850 blankets, 65 heaters in a depot in Osh after its relief operation for the earthquake occured in the same area in January 2008 to use in any kind of emergency situations in the area. Today, those materails have been used by Kyrgyzstan Red Crescent Society for the shelter of people who were affected by the strong earthquake on 5 October.

"We decided to increase its stocks in Osh Depot to use within the cooperation of KRCS in any emergency situation around Kyrgyzstan" said Mr. Omer Tasli - General Coordinator of RCP. Also added that "Regional Cooperation Programme will get stronger day by day with the partnership of member societies aiming to alleviate human sufferings in our common region"
