Activation Overview

The Red Crescent Society of Kyrgyzstan (RCSK) has activated its Early Action Protocol (EAP) for Heatwave on 15 July 2025.

Heat waves are forecasted in three southern regions of Kyrgyzstan: Osh Region (including Osh city and Kara-Suu), Jalal-Abad Region (Jalal-Abad city), and Batken Region (Markaz and Razzakov). According to the National Meteorological Authority, Kyrgyzhydromet, the extreme heat is expected from 20 to 22 July 2025. Daily weather monitoring is conducted twice a day, morning and evening, during the summer season.

The Early Action Protocol is triggered when temperatures reach the 85th percentile threshold: Jalal-Abad – 40°C, KaraSuu – 38°C, Razzakov – 35°C, and Markaz – 39°C. The activation date of the protocol is 15 July 2025, allowing five days for early action implementation prior to impact.

Early actions will take place in the cities and towns mentioned above and will be implemented between 15 and 19 July 2025. The measures include distribution of essential items, support to vulnerable groups, and community-based preparedness activities to reduce health risks caused by extreme heat.
