Biophysical Indicators.

The county experienced depressed rainfall during the season, however some little amount of rainfall was received in the month under review which was below normal and it was poor in both temporal and spatial distribution, though Khorof harer and Sabuli recorded near normal rainfall and lowest was recorded in Habaswein, Hadado and lagbogol for October-November and December period.
The Current County Vegetation Index (VCI) for the month of December indicated severe Vegetation deficit band in all the county, although some little rains was experience in the month of December, with vci score of 12.53 from previous month figure of 19.08, Wajir West and Wajir south livelihood zones are the worst affected areas with scores of 7.65and 9.81 respectively.

The current situation of Water remained stable as compared to similar times last year. Water trekking distance decreased due to recharge level of water pans. Although some parts of Wajir west and Wajir south where the recharge level was low the situation is different. The current sources of water include natural pond, lagas, depressions, water pans and boreholes.

Socio Economic Indicators (Impact Indicators)

Livestock body condition for goat and camel shows good across the county with cattle and sheep in Wajir west pastoral all species and Wajir south pastoral cattle livelihood zones have fair to poor body condition. Current milk production increased in the month of December but expected to deteriorate in the coming months, the terms of trade remained stable at 70.kg with no significant change for a sale of one medium size goat. No disruption of market in all livelihood zones,
Migration of livestock was witnessed in search of pasture and browse
