The number of children 6 to 59 months requiring treatment for acute malnutrition only slightly decreased from 970,214 in February 2023 to 945,610 in July 2023, attributable to the cumulative effects of the drought on food security, and WASH and health status. Of these, 216,794 children are severely acutely malnourished.

The El-Nino-enhanced October to December 2023 rains affected 671,000 people across 38 counties and lead to displacement of 545,515 people.

USD 41.7 million has been received against the HAC 2023, leaving a funding gap of USD 95.9 million (70 per cent) against the US$137.5 million requirement.

Over 1.5 million people (out of which approximately 1.2 million are children) have been reached with health, HIV/AIDS, nutrition, WASH, child protection, education, social protection, and social behaviour change humanitarian interventions.
