As at 29 July 2015, Kakuma had received 46,315 asylum seekers from South Sudan. The transit centre has been temporary closed due to insecurity at the border.

Formation of Zonal Management Committees has been completed for Kakuma 4 where the block leaders elected on 27th June were sensitized on the need to elect 5 representatives per zone for the positions of Chairman/Chairlady, V.Chairman/V. Chairlady and Secretary. These leaders will join others during monthly interagency coordination meetings to present issues affecting the new arrivals. They will also support blocks in the formation of sectorial committees.
