HIGHLIGHTS

  • As at 28th January 2015, Kakuma had received 44,953 asylum seekers from South Sudan. No new arrivals have been transported to the camp from the border during the reporting period. This brings the camp population to 179,714. As at 25th January, 179,415 refugees had been registered by UNHCR and DRA, with South Sudanese making up 49.5% of the registered population.

  • The General Distribution for NFIs commenced on 26th January 2015. The distribution targets the entire camp population, including the new arrivals. This distribution comes almost 4 years since the last partial distribution was done in 2011.
