Following the rainfall received over dekad two and three of the month under review, recovery in the condition of vegetation was witnessed towards the end of March. Regeneration witnessed resulted to improved forage availability especially in Turkana West, North and Kibish sub counties. However, the level of recovery in Turkana East, Central, South and Loima sub counties was low and thus remained the areas of concern.

As a consequence of the extreme negative impacts of the drought witnessed before the long rains onset was attained, there was no significant improvement in livestock body condition and milk production level hence consumption with migration being witnessed over the first half of the month and livestock mortalities attributed to multiple causes.

The purchasing power of households still remained very low driven by the high cost of maize reported across markets.
Despite the trekking distance to water source remaining elongated over the first half of March, it stabilized following the recharge witnessed and enhanced water flow through the seasonal rivers and therefore water consumption improved. -
Food insecurity as reflected through the high proportion of households that were categorized as having a poor FCS remained the major driver of malnutrition whose levels were remarkably elevated. Regular coping through application of severe consumption and livelihood based strategies was a major practice among majority of the households in March.
