Ten More Lives Lost in Tana Delta as Fights Erupt Again

Following fresh attacks in Kibusu Village, Tana Delta, the Kenya Red Cross Society (KRCS) Garsen Branch has responded and are reporting ten lives lost, thus 5 children, 2 women and 3 men, 19 houses torched and one critical casualty with burns transferred to the Malindi District Hospital, using the KRCS E-Plus ambulance.

The KRCS staff, volunteers and E-Plus paramedics have attended to scores of people with other injuries. The team has been on the ground since yesterday when nine other people lost their lives in Nduru village, 11 houses got torched and several people injured.

The KRCS has been in Tana Delta since the eruption of attacks and counter attacks in August 2012, working with displaced families in health, water, food, peace initiatives and reconstruction and other humanitarian services. They have also responded to several attacks where more than 200 lives have lost and over 30,000 people displaced with scores injured. More updates to follow...
