  • The onset of short rains season was late with an average rainfall of 68.7% which is within normal range.

  • In February, light shower were received mainly in the highlands which is normal at this time of the year.

  • 3month Vegetation condition index is within normal range.

  • The water situation has slightly deteriorated compared to the previous month.

Socio Economic Indicators (Impact Indicators)

  • Dry harvesting of maize is ongoing in all livelihood zones.

  • Elephants menace remains a challenge in the county.

  • Pasture and browse condition is good expected to deteriorate due to high temperatures being experienced.

  • Livestock body condition has improved due to availability of pasture and reduced trekking distances to water sources.

  • Milk production is below normal.

  • Terms of Trade were favorable.

  • Proportion of children less than five years rated to be at risk of malnutrition is within normal range.
