Rainfall onset was timely occurring around the second dekad. However the recorded average rainfall of 26.66 was below normal ranges for the month.The VCI for the overall county is 47.65 which is an indication there is no drought.

Milk production is below normal seasonal ranges. This has contributes to high percentage of malnutrition in childrenunder 5 though the MUAC value is within normal range. Livestock migration is not normal which has also contributed to decreased migration.

Drought risk is currently ‘medium’ as the onset of October-November-December has been timely. This is likely to improve state of water resources and pastures in the short term. Given the current ‘Alert’ status, it is important to start planning for preparedness activities.
