Drought Situation & EW Phase Classification
The county is at Normal phase with medium drought risk. The average rainfall received was 23.67 mm which was below the normal expected ranges. The vegetation condition index for the overall county was 40.24 an indication of no drought.
Livestock migration patterns are within normal ranges though milk production is still below the LTA. Subsequently this has led to increased risks of malnutrition in children under 5 though the value is still within normal range. The TOT value is also within the normal range an indication of fair livestock prices against stable cereal prices.
In view of the current situation, it is necessary to activate preparedness activities for all the sectors.
