Biophysical Indicators

Rainfall: The forecasted standardized precipitation index indicates values of less than 0.5 across most parts of the County, suggesting normal conditions. Vegetation Condition: Normalized difference vegetation index indicates that vegetation greenness is 106- 126percent of the 20-year average. 3-months vegetation condition index is 69.43 indicative of above normal vegetation greenness across the County.

Socio-Economic Indicators (Impact Indicators)

Production Indicators: Livestock of various species exhibited good body condition. Milk production levels were above normal across livelihood zones. Migration patterns of livestock remained minimal and adhered to typical routes. Kidding and lambing rates remained stable, while the calving rate peaked for cattle and camels. Maize is in the grain filling stage and in good condition. Beans, cowpeas, and green grams are also in good condition and have reached maturity stage. Maize infestation of pests such as Fall Army Worm, Aphids, and stalk borers were recorded. Livestock diseases include PPR, Brucellosis, Helminthiasis, Pneumonia, Trypanosomiasis, and CCPP.

Access Indicators: Household and livestock water access remained within typical distances, with most water points in Marsabit County showing adequate recharge for sub-surface water sources. Milk consumption was normal and terms of trade were significantly higher than normal. Major cereal prices were higher in several markets, although operations continued as usual. Livestock prices were also elevated across all the major markets with low traded volumes.

Utilization Indicators: Majority of households are employing consumptioncoping strategies, indicative of crisis level (IPC Phase 3) and food consumption score averaging at the borderline category. Households are able to just meet minimum food needs by depleting essential livelihood assets or resorting to crisis-coping strategies. persist. Nutritional status of children below the age of 5 years remained within the normal ranges.
