Biophysical Indicators

  • Light showers received during the last week of the month in Mandera North and West sub counties.
    No rains were received in other parts of the county

  • The 3-month Vegetation Condition index for the County was 18.8 indicating Severe drought.

  • Mandera East, West, North and Lafey are showing severe vegetation deficit while Mandera South and Banissa are showing moderate vegetation deficit.

  • Over sixty centres are under water trucking conducted by County Government Socio economic indicators

  • Milk production and consumption has declined compared to last month but area bove the long term averages.

  • Terms of trade are above the normal expected range.

  •  Browse and pasture conditions are fair to poor in Southern parts while poor in the other parts of the county.

  • Livestock prices have declined compared to last month

  • The body condition of all species of livestock is fair to poor and on worsening trend

  • The utilization indicator is within the normal expected range.
