Biophysical Indicators

  • The County experienced minimal rainfall during the Month under review.

  • The vegetation condition Index VCI-3Month) was 52.35 in the month of December showing a decrease from 56.62 in November.

  • The VCI indicated vegetation condition greenness that was above normal. The overall drought phase in the county was normal in December.

Socio Economic Indicators

Production indicators

  • All livestock species exhibited fair to good body condition and on an improving trend.

  • Milk production decreased from 4.6litres in November to 4litres in December.

Access indicators

  • The average Term of Trade decreased for the month of December to 128.4 compared to 144.5 in November.

  • Average return household watering distance increased from 4.8km in November to 6.6 Km in December due to minimal rainfall recorded.

  • Milk consumption in December was at 1.5 litres lower than the long term Average of 17.58 litres.

Utilization indicators

  • The proportion of children at risk of malnutrition decreased from 4.9 percent in November to 4.8 percent in December, which was slightly lower than the long-term mean of 5.0 percent.

  • The average coping strategy Index was 8.21 in December, a slight decrease from 8.54 in November.
