The society over the years, has garnered accolades from external actors in recognition of the outstanding commitment to humanitarian issues, and demonstration of excellence in the Information Communication and Technology (ICT) industry. The Free New App empowers people to connect, talk and engage with the Kenya Red Cross through simple, easy to use key features by;

1.Providing a simpler quicker effective way for people to dial KRCS emergency services.

2.Enabling people to receive crucial news about Kenya Red Cross at their fingertips.

3.Keeping people informed about KRCS and Kenya health, emergency and disaster agendas, news and guidelines in immediate real time.

4.Connecting people with KRCS via events, memberships, promotions and real time content.

5.Encouraging people to support blood drives, community programs, disaster response and a deeper connection via membership, donations and immediate support.

“KRCS has adopted technology and has narrowed the gap between traditional and new media, which we should adjust to and use it to make a difference in the country and globally. This application will offer delivery mechanism for dissemination of information for better services for the nation.” Said Cabinet Secretary for ICT, Dr. Joseph Mucheru.

According to Dr. Mucheru the Ministry is a strong proponent in penetration of ICT in institutions and households by formulating policies and strategies such as ICT Sector Policy, Kenya ICT Master Plan among others. The Cabinet Secretary also urged Kenyans in the diaspora to take advantage of the App and sign up.

KRCS Secretary General Dr. Abbas Gullet expressed his excitement for KRCS being the first National Society among 190 others around the world, to have an advanced App which is more holistic and provides numerous features in one. “Through this App, KRCS will be in a position to easily show Kenyans and the world that through education, use of technological solutions, political regulation and financial support, we can achieve sustainable development. This means KRCS has put this nation at the forefront in using technology to bring innovative solutions to our challenges.” Said Dr.Abbas.

The application offers powerful capabilities to enhance our ability to expand our reach, engage our members, volunteers, partners, and beneficiaries and further increase resilience in Kenya.
