Kenya Red Cross Society Responds to Garissa Attack

The Kenya Red Cross Society (KRCS) through its Garissa Branch responded to a bomb attack that took place today Sunday 4th November 2012 at the Utawala Interdenominational Church.

Following the attack, the Society deployed its Emergency Medical Services ambulances that stabilised the injured people on site and transferred them to the Garissa District Hospital.

Later, two of the critically injured victims were airlifted to Nairobi by the KRCS. One casualty, who was set to be airlifted, lost his life. The final number of casualties was 14 injured of whom one died and two were airlifted and taken to Kenyatta National Hospital, Nairobi.

KRCS is grateful to the Kenya National Blood TranfusionService (KNBTS), who assisted in blood mobilisation, Garissa District Hospital, Kenyatta Hospital, ICAA Services, Garissa Residents who supported by donating blood, the Police, the Media and our twitter followers and all others who were there at the hour of need. We wish the injured people quick recovery.
