The Kenya Red Cross Society (KRCS) has received a donation worth 100,000 Kenya Shillings from Little Ride in support of humanitarian activities that continue to be rendered to Kenyans by KRCS. In an event held at the KRCS Head Quarters yesterday, the General Manager, Little Ride Ronald Mahondo, commended KRCS for its service to the country.
“This is but a little contribution to support the Kenya Red Cross for the great job they have been doing to support Kenyans in times of disasters. As an upcoming company, we thought why not support such a noble cause,” said Mahondo.
To receive the cheque on behalf of KRCS was Dr. Abbas Gullet, Secretary General. “I would like to thank the Little Ride for their kind gesture,” said Dr. Abbas. “It is contributions like this that enable the Kenya Red Cross Society to do the work we do and therefore I call on the private sector to emulate such gesture especially with the on-going drought situation in the county,” he added.
The donation is as a result of a joint campaign held during the 2016 Jamhuri Day where Kenyans were asked to use Little Ride taxis and pay any amount in fare. The campaign enabled well wishers to determine their own fare and give back to the community, as money raised was to be forwarded to the Kenya Red Cross Society.
The two organizations agreed to build on the partnership through more of similar engagements that aim to support and empower those in need.
